The 95th BG flew 334 missions during World War II. The first mission was on May 13, 1943 to St. Omer, France and the last mission was on May 25, 1945.

Highlights:
The 95th BG made the first daylight B-17 bombing mission to Berlin on March 4, 1944. 41 aircraft took off and 36 aircraft completed the mission.
The 95th BG had the last B-17 shot down during the war, when on May 7, 1945, while on a mission to drop food to the starving people of Holland. The aircraft #44-8640, piloted by Lionel N. Sceurman, came under anti-aircraft fire on the approach to the food drop zone. With one engine feathered due to flak damage, the plane was lost in the channel. Eleven crewmen were killed, 2 were returned to duty.
For its heroic efforts, the 95th Bomb Group was awarded the Presidential Unit Citation on three seperate occasions. (See Unit Citations under History).
