The 95th BG suffered substantial loses of men and planes as the U.S. attempted to prove the worth of "daylight" bombing tactics. With limited fighter support at the beginning of the war the B-17's were often times at the mercy of the German fighters once they crossed the English Channel.
The 95th BG had the following casualties and POW's:
