Today we added 3 new photos for the Walter Baker crew story. Enjoy!!!!

We just added a new section for crew stories, which are historical accounts of crew experiences during the war. These will include pictures and stories of specific crews and their aircraft. Some stories will also provide details and accounts of the German fighters that downed the B-17. The first Crew Story provides comments from the Baker crew, that was shot down in the aircraft Our Bay-Bee.

MEMORIAL SERVICE FOR ROBERT V. MERCER CREWMEN - 95th BG - 335th SQ

On Sunday, January 28, 1945 the B-17G (#43-39055) crashed in Kain Village, Tournai, Belgium.
The pilot "Bob" Mercer was killed because he stayed in the cockpit, guiding the battered plane
away from numerous houses, the Kain church and the little schoolhouse. His crew had been given time
to bail out and they survived, except for Charles Taylor, his copilot, who was killed on the
snowcovered ground, when his parachute failed to open.

Memorial Service Details:

Place : KAIN-LA-TOMBE, TOURNAI, BELGIUM - Memorial in front of the Kain church
Date : Thursday MAY, 22nd 2008 Time : 10.30 p.m.

All members and relatives of members of the 95th BG are invited.
Local Jacques De Ceuninck will be very happy to meet you in Kain, Tournai for the ceremony.

We just received a color photo taken at Horham in August of 1944 by Al Keeler, co-pilot of George Dancisin crew. We are posting this photo of a B-17 taking off on the Horham Photos - Past page. Many thanks to Top-turret gunner Ray Rich for providing the photo.
